Pairing a Device
Connect a Stratos player to a screen with a pairing code, replace hardware, and fix pairing problems.
Pairing links a physical player to a screen in your workspace. The player shows a short code on its display, and you enter that code in Stratos. No passwords or tokens to copy.
What you need
Section titled “What you need”- A screen created in Stratos. See Adding a Screen.
- The player installed and powered on, connected to a display. See Player Software.
- A network connection. See Network Requirements.
- A free screen license. See Screen licenses.
On the player
Section titled “On the player”- Power on. A new or reset player shows the Stratos logo, then waits for a network (Waiting for network…).
- Connect to the network. On Ethernet this happens automatically. On a TV or device that needs Wi-Fi, the player shows Connect this TV to your network: choose your network from Select a WiFi network, enter the password if asked, and wait for Connected.
- Read the code. The player shows Enter this code in the CMS to pair this device, with a code and a countdown. The code expires after a short time and is replaced automatically with a fresh one, so use whatever is showing now.
In Stratos
Section titled “In Stratos”- Open the screen you’re pairing (or click Add Screen to create one) and choose Provision device.
- Type the Pairing code shown on the player. Letters aren’t case-sensitive, and spaces and symbols are ignored.
- Click Pair device.
The dialog confirms Device Paired. The player picks up its settings by itself, restarts into normal mode and starts showing content within a minute or so.
You can also pair during first sign-in on the welcome page.
Replace a player
Section titled “Replace a player”To move a screen to new hardware, open the screen, choose Re-provision device (More actions menu or Device tab), and enter the new player’s code. The new player takes over the screen’s name, location, group, schedules and fallback content. The old player’s access is replaced, so wipe or reset it if you’re reusing it.
Pair a player to a different screen
Section titled “Pair a player to a different screen”Reset the player (see below), then pair it to the screen you want. A player can only belong to one screen at a time.
Reset a player’s pairing
Section titled “Reset a player’s pairing”If a player was set up wrongly or you’re moving it, reset it from the player itself. Support staff can do this on site, using the support hotkey and a support PIN, and choosing Reset Device Pairing. The player erases its configuration and returns to the pairing screen. Afterwards pair it again as above. If you can’t do this yourself, contact support.
If pairing doesn’t work
Section titled “If pairing doesn’t work”| Problem | Try |
|---|---|
| No code appears | The player can’t reach Stratos. Check the cable or Wi-Fi, and the network requirements. |
| The code is rejected | Check the characters (0 vs O, 1 vs I). The code may have expired. Use the current one. |
| No Screen Licenses Available | All licenses are in use. Buy another or delete a screen you no longer need. See Plans & Subscription. |
| Paired, but a blank screen | Nothing is scheduled yet. Add fallback content or a schedule. |
| The screen stays “Not paired” | Wait a few seconds and refresh the page. If it persists, reset the player and try again. |
